This program has been designed by Resorts of the Canadian
Rockies (RCR) for the Nakiska, Fernie,
Kimberley and Lake Louise Resorts to help students develop
a passion for safe skiing and snowboarding as a lifelong
sport.
Skiing and boarding fits into the Alberta Curriculum for
both Physical Education and Health and Life Skills.
This program focuses on the following safety message; Look
where you are going, be trained and wear the proper gear.
This package contains information for the teachers, activities
for the students and an assessment tool that allows teachers
to evaluate performance on the hill. In an effort to incorporate
Alberta Program of Studies general outcomes into the Resorts
of the Canadian Rockies skiing and snowboarding lesson programs,
the attached activities can be modified to the special needs
and levels of each group.
The RCR skiing and snowboarding programs are age and activity
appropriate for the following divisions.
