Resorts
of the Canadian Rockies' (RCR) school programs are designed
to incorporate and emphasize snow safety and the importance
of outdoor recreational activities as part of a healthy balanced
lifestyle. We feel that every child should have an opportunity
to participate in skiing and snowboarding. To help facilitate
this, RCR makes every effort to offer cost effective packages
(lift, lesson and rental).
Skiing and snowboarding fits into the Alberta School Curriculum
for Physical Education under the general outcomes of activity,
health benefits, cooperation and daily activity. Special emphasis
is placed on safety.
RCR is proud to announce that Nakiska Mountain
will offer the Husky Snow Stars instructional program to all
school groups. This nationally recognized instructional program
designed, by Alpine Canada, provides additional benefits to
our lesson participants. Each student will be evaluated throughout
the duration of the lesson. Following the lesson, each participant
will receive a report card outlining participation in the lesson,
as well as an assessment of skill level.
Our instructional programs have been designed with the school
curriculums in mind and can easily be linked to wellness, biology,
and other science curriculums. The information available on
this web site will aid you in organizing, planning, and creating
an educational component for your school's ski trip.
The lessons your students will participate in will be focused
on personal safety, warm-up and cool down exercises, potential
hazards, first aid, and the technical skill areas of skiing
or snowboarding.
