Nakiska is making snow and also getting natural snow as it prepares to host the world! Yes shortly thousands of athletes will be training on the slopes of Nakiska in preparation for upcoming World Cup season!!

Fernie Alpine Resort staff are very proud to support the kids of Fernie with the creation of the new Playground at Isabella Dicken Elementary. It was an amazing experience to be part of this project as we could see how much it meant to the kids to have a place to play! Play is so important for kids and families. Now families have that special place in Fernie!

The new Bike Park is done in the City of Fernie. The Park had 80 riders on Sat and Sun!! Fernie Alpine Resort Operations Manager, Robin Siggers and Jay Hoots, Fernie Bike Park Designer hook up to rough in the Fernie Bike Park Park features. Fernie Alpine Resort gets on board with the donation of time, Heavy Equipment and Robin's equipment operating expertise. Robin said he was very fortunate to have the professional guidance and input from Jay to make sure that everything was built to spec.

Can't wait to ski Kimberley Alpine Resorts long groomers or it's new gladed runs.....yah! I can't wait and we will be soon! look at the white stuff gracing the upper mountain!

 

 

last year Fernie Alpine Resort received the most snowfall of any major resort in Canada!! This graph was created by Non-stop Ski and I have posted before - but felt it is too good of a reminder of the great snow in Fernie!

 

Fernie Alpine Resort will close on April 14th and then re-open for a Bonus Weekend for April 18 and April 19!! It will be a celebration of the season and a 'Thank you' to community, passholder, guest and staff! Look forward to a fun party! We are excited to extend the season so our guests can enjoy the great spring skiing offered at Fernie Alpine Resort. I can't think about Spring yet as i can't wait for the snow to fly! so decided to post a mid-winter shot....

 

I am so fortunate to work for a company that is full of passionate, mountain loving, adventure seeking and fun staff!! It is hard to highlight one but i am going to try and share some highlights about those who work at Resorts of the Canadian Rockies (RCR) and or at one of our resorts of Fernie Alpine Resort, Kimberley Alpine Resort, and or Nakiska Ski Area. Mark Kowalchuk is our talented graphic designer. Not only is Mark a fantastic artist but he is top notch snowboarder and skateboarder! He rides every chance he gets! First Snow Hits Fernie Hard! Get ready to ski

 

 

Installation of a new safety system across the Ridge from Polar Peak has been completed! What does this mean? The safety of our staff and guest is number 1 priority for us. This line will provide our Snow Safety Team with the ability to get into key terrain for control work on a more regular basis, so as to ensure that our guests will be able to enjoy more of our great terrain on those Heavy Snowfall days sooner!!

 

Make sure you don't miss this event in Kimberley,BC on Oct 10th 2008 at Mckim Theatre at 6pm. Tickets available in KImberley at Black Bear Books and Gerricks in Cranbrook,BC. Again as i have mentioned in another story - there are many talented photogs in Kimberley, Cranbrook and Fernie- like Pat Bates, Henri Georgi, Terry Parker, Dave Quinn etc..
