today was an incredible day to ski and or ride. It was cloudy early in the morning and then the skies cleared to Blue! Perfect temps and sunny skies...what more do you need. Well throw in there the 50cm of powder that fell this week and you have a recipe for a perfect ski weekend. But not only did the skiing rock....but so did the Plaza as one of British Columbia's favorite apres ski bands rocked the Plaza at Fernie Alpine Resort

now over 46cm of new this week! more may be on the way...wow! Fernie Alpine Resort has more total snowfall this winter than any other major resort in the Canadian Rockies. Plus March has a way of coming in like a Lion! looks pretty good from today's image below- would look to hit Snake Ridge, Deep Space and or Cedar Ridge for fun

Feb 26th 2009- a good day!

 What is this some medieval tradition? A ski bum BBQ? It was a gathering of friends at Kimberley Alpine Resort to celebrate 'SNOW' and the tradition of ULLR the Norwegian God of SNOW. ULLR always has taken special care of Kimberley. ULLR arrived in his carriage towed by Reindeer and made an impression on all of the guests in-resort. You never know who you may run into at Kimberley Alpine Resort.....So make sure you share your kind words of "Let it Snow, Let it Snow" to ULLR

 Now as we watch the wonderful light natural snow fall from the sky it takes your mind to a special place. We skiers and riders share this fun zone and i think it is unique to our sport! So I think during this time of economic crisis in the world we should share the fun of riding or skiing snow and the great fun that we share together each and every day we are skiing or riding! Get out and enjoy the fresh and take time to get a friend or someone you know who does not ski out on the slopes...just don't do it on a powder day...! take care and powder to the people!

 Monday Feb 23rd - Snowing hard in the Plaza at Fernie Alpine Resort

The Canadian National Snowboard Team visited Kimberley Alpine Resort last week to do some training. In fact they were so impressed with the new National Training Run (part of the Official Kimberley Alpine Resort Training Centre) that they are thinking of coming back for more....i had the pleasure of spending some time with the athletes and coaches and it was a real honor. I was very impressed with not only their amazing skills on-mountain but they are just incredible human beings! We are proud to have them represent us at 2010! Good luck to Mark Fawcett and the Team! Come back and visit us again...

Canadian Snowboard Team Enjoys Kimberley Alpine Resort!

Here at Fernie Alpine Resort, Nakiska Ski Area and Kimberley Alpine Resort, we believe that everyone deserves at least one Snow Day a year......Most of you probably have not had one since the 5th grade when School was cancelled because of too much SNOW. Now we believe that it is time to start our own movement and ask the Gov't for a National Powder SNOW DAY!

what a weekend of skiing at Fernie Alpine Resort! We had powder and great ski conditions for Saturday and Sunday! Truly a great family weekend experience. Some highlight runs- Dancer and 1,2,3. Also check out the Face lift for getting in those extra turns of fresh and the incredible view of the Lizard Bowl.
