interesting that we find that Alberto Tomba is coming to Nakiska to push the Italian team and help motivate them to achieve greater success at the 2010 Olympics. This news update provided by San Francisco Times:

"La Bomba" hopes to inspire: Alberto Tomba is trying to pick up the Italian ski team and carry it on his shoulders. The Italians are still bitter after failing to win an Alpine medal at their home games in Turin four years ago and are hoping a change of scenery will help. Looking for that extra bit of inspiration, the Azzurri will hold their pre-Olympic camp in Nakiska, Alberta, the slopes where Tomba burst onto the scene with two gold medals at the 1988 Calgary Games.

"I hope what I did in Canada 22 years ago inspires this team," Tomba said in his new role as a special adviser for the Italian winter sports federation. "But you can't compare these Olympics to Calgary. I entered with seven consecutive wins and was automatically the favorite. This team has more athletes with a chance of winning a medal."
