A Golden moment in Fernie, British Columbia

My Son Murphy had a very special ski experience last Saturday at Fernie Alpine Resort. I heard from him all the way home how much he enjoyed the care, kindness and inspiration that Kerrin Lee-Gartner shared with him and the rest of his Fernie Alpine Ski Team team members. Below is the note from his coach-

"A GOLD MEDAL DAY ON SATURDAY!!!

We had our first Celebrity Coach on Saturday morning and it was none other than Kerrin Lee-Gartner, the gold medalist in the Downhill at the 1992 Albertville Olympics.  Kerrin skied with us for the morning and taught the kids “Ankles and Knees drive the skis”.  A great message - we will hear a lot of that going forward.

Not only did Kerrin ski with us  - she brought with her actual gold medal!  The real thing! How cool is that?  Kerrin spoke to the kids about believing their dreams and then we took a photo of each of the kids with Kerrin and the gold medal.   As the photos show - the coach and tail-gunner got in on this opportunity too.  Can you blame us?  No kid is too old for a moment like this.  This is a real high point in the season for the group and a very motivating day for kids of all ages.

I want to thank Kerrin for taking the time to ski with the Rip’n Rockstars.  Between chasing her own girls to ski races and her broadcasting duties Kerrin does not get very much time to ski in Fernie.  Her next ski day in Fernie is not until March 16.  Still each year she takes the time to ski with the kids.  Kerrin is very generous with her time and we very fortunate to have her join us.  THANK YOU KERRIN!!"
