NAKISKA SET TO OPEN DECEMBER 10TH

Calgary, AB – December 8, 2005 – Nakiska will open on Saturday, December 10th with excellent conditions and all main lifts operating. Known for its state of the art snowmaking system, Nakiska has been busy making snow to add to the accumulation Mother Nature has already provided.

With a settled snowpack of 58cm, the upper mountain is reporting excellent conditions. The Gold Chair will provide access to Red Crow, Whoop Up, Lower Eagle Tail, Gold Rush, Whiskey Gap, Upper Little Hunter, Gold Road, Mid Mountain Area, Last Pitch on Mapmaker and the Upper, Middle and Lower Glades. All runs are in excellent shape.

Further down the mountain, both the Silver and Bronze chairs will be operating, providing access to Grand Trunk, Homesteader, lower Eye Opener, Sundance and Sweetgrass and great conditions. The Kids’ World area, which includes a magic carpet and handle tow, will also be open.

“We are expecting some of the best conditions we have seen in years for opening day,” says Jan Sekerak, Nakiska’s Area Manager. “The cold temperatures have been a big plus to maximize our snowmaking capabilities. Things are warming up a little, so skiers can look forward to pleasant weather and great ski conditions at Nakiska this weekend.”

Nakiska will also feature demo days this weekend, giving skiers and riders the chance to try out some of the latest and greatest equipment from Head, Salomon and Rossignol. Sports Alpine, Nakiska’s retail sports shop, is featuring plenty of new stock for the 2005/2006 season. The Winter Sports School and its friendly team of professionals will be ready to serve those new to the sport of skiing and snowboarding, or looking to refresh their skills.
